The design has been unveiled for the giant mosaic being planned in Wells Recreation Ground.
Michael Eavis joined mosaic artist Ruth Ames-White to reveal the design in front of dozens of invited guests at the Swan Hotel.
The design incorporates 32 windows and 32 quatrefoils, each to be filled with a depiction of a person or an event of historical importance, the moat, and a map of the city centre showing some of its key buildings.
Ruth said: "We are hugely grateful to Michael Eavis who gave a wonderful speech before revealing the design. Michael has become very interested in the project and a great encouragement. I'm really flattered that the design has met with much admiration, it's always a nerve-wracking moment. It's now on to the exciting fabrication stage of the mosaic."
